No doubt this is why this book, though over thirty years old, is still relevant and in print, even though Dukes' approach flies in the face of the reductionistic naturalism which dominates his field to this day (some readers may find his last chapter a bit reactionary, but, in the face of the hard-core prejudices of his colleagues, it becomes somewhat more understandable).
